Prior to the Brisbane Lions-Richmond NAB Challenge match on Friday night Gold Coast Football Club hosted a special function for all players, their families and host families.
The 35-strong group were presented with certificates honouring their place in the inaugural training squad.
Presentations were made by the GCFC Advisory Board Members including Chairman John Witheriff, Dale Dickson, Graeme Downie and Bob Gordon and the GCFC coaching group of Guy McKenna, Marcus Ashcroft, Shaun Hart and Andrew Weller.
McKenna spoke passionately about the progress the young men had made since training commenced and the journey that lay ahead for the whole club.
Gold Coast Mayor Ron Clarke attended the function and soaked up the atmosphere of the historical evening.
