Hunt who has been a sensation for the SUNS since making the Midfield shift suffered a painful chest injury (sternoclavicular joint) three weeks ago and has been ruled out by the Clubs medical team and will play no further part in the 2012 campaign.
General Manager of Football Operations Marcus Ashcroft said Karmichael was disappointed at the prospect of watching the final four games of the season from the sidelines, but even more determined to get back to full fitness and continue his development in the code next season.
"Missing games is always tough for a player, it’s what they all work so hard for all year round, however with Karmichael’s particular injury he accepted the advice of our medical team that it would be simply too dangerous to make him available for selection until he has fully recovered." Ashcroft said.
The upside is that he will be fit and ready to go when the entire senior list flies out for altitude training camp in Arizona on the 28th of October
After being heavily criticized at times during his debut season in the AFL, Karmichael has emerged as a bona fide AFL player in 2012, the solidly built midfielder providing solid support for skipper Gary Ablett in the middle, whilst showing that he too is capable of providing match winning moments.
Karmichael has really made the most of his opportunities through the midfield this season, he is determined to do everything right to improve his game each week. As a leader of our club he sets a great example with his dedication to being the best he can be every time he trains or plays an AFL game.
The Gold Coast SUNS will name their side to play Carlton on the Clubs website from 6:25pm today.
