WINGMAN Jarrod Harbrow was the stand out performer for the Gold Coast SUNS on a disappointing night at Metricon Stadium as the home side  fell to a 45-point loss to the Fremantle Dockers.

The lively midfielder finished with a game-high 32 disposals, and for much of the contest continually inspired his team mates with a series of committed chases.

Post-match, Harbrow said the playing group were stinging after letting an opportunity take advantage of the undermanned Dockers go, but would use the burning sensation as fuel in the lead-up to their significant Round 7 match against Melbourne at the MCG next week.

"Obviously the boys are hurting from the loss, as we really came into this game wanted to make a statement against Fremantle," said Harbrow.

"They were strong defensively from the start, and wouldn't give us time and space throughout the entire contest."

A composed Guy McKenna echoing Harbrow’s  comments as he faced the media during the post match press conference.

“We spoke about pressure, pose and if we did that well we might be able to knock off a top 8 side, I thought the boys cracked in and won the contested possessions with the inside-50 levelled against the boa constrictors of the AFL but our execution going forward simply wasn’t good enough” said McKenna.

Despite edging out the Docker's in the major statistical categories including contested possession, tackles and disposals, the home team struggled to cope with the constant pressure and physical approach  adopted by the visitors.

Harbrow saying a lack of execution around goals had cost the GC SUNS.

"We just couldn't make the most of our opportunities around goal, and although we won the counts in congestion possessions and tackles, we saw tonight that unless we do damage on the scoreboard we won't be in a position to seal the four points.”

With the Demons having experienced their fair share of disappointment this season, Harbrow said the boys would be looking forward to getting another shot against the AFL rival.

"They've got a young and talented list, similar to ares, so it'll certainly be a great test for the playing group."

McKenna though was more direct saying they would get a similar result next week unless they could hold onto possession and make the most of their opportunities.

“Whether it’s Fremantle or Melbourne next week, the ultimate challenge is being able to play your brand of football for longer than the opposition and when we got it you would blink and miss our pose if you like because we turned it over.”
