Jarred Ellis will don the number 43 guernsey at the Gold Coast SUNS in 2014.

Ellis, a graduate of the GC SUNS Talent Academy, spent 2013 representing his State in the Under 18 Championships and local team Broadbeach in the NEAFL as well as the GC SUNS NEAFL side.

Originally missing out on being drafted, the GC SUNS signed Ellis as a local zone selection in  last months Rookie Draft.

The former Lennox Head product has settled well into life as an AFL player.

“It has been really good so far, don’t get me wrong, training has been full on, but I have loved every minute.”

Ellis’ commitment has never been questioned. Living in Lennox Heads, approximately 90 minutes south of Carrara, Ellis commuted four hours in total between his Northern New South Wales home and Yeronga for his state duties with the QLD Scorpions, in between three-hour trips to Metricon Stadium for Academy training and NEAFL matches during the season.

“It’s probably a little reward to work my way on to the Gold Coast SUNS list, but I’m not going to stop there, it’s just the beginning and I’m looking forward to the hard yards ahead,” Ellis said.
