SUNS Indigenous Magic set to shine
Gold Coast SUNS indigenous trio Harley Bennell, Steven May and Jarrod Harbrow have been named in the final Indigenous All-Stars squad that will take on Richmond in an exhibition match tomorrow night.
Livewire Harley Bennell took his game to another level in 2012, enjoying a breaking-out season that saw the Western-Australian product finish runner-up to inspirational captain Gary Ablett in the GC SUNS Club Champion award.
Swingman Steven May is hungrier than ever to taste AFL action, after a breakout performance in the forward line towards the end of last season.
GC SUNS High Performance Manager Stephen Schwerdt has praised May’s performance over the pre-season, saying the former U18 All Australian full-forward has been a stand-out after shedding 8kgs off his solid frame this summer.
Experienced half-back Jarrod Harbrow was a steadying influence for the playing group last year after returning from a sever elbow injury.
The former Western Bulldog will be looking to inject more pace through the midfield this season, after GC SUNS senior coach Guy McKenna expressed his desire to see Harbrow play further up the ground.
