The Gold Coast SUNS will head into Round 5 of the AFL Season with the majority of the playing group available for selection.
Rory Thompson, however, has suffered a small setback in his efforts to return to the field, with the key defender expected to miss up to six weeks.
Speaking on the Qscan Injury Update, Head Physiotherapist Lindsay Bull said that although it was a minor knee operation it would take up to a month to recover.
“Rory has been having a little bit of discomfort in his non ACL injured knee over the last couple of months, we investigated that a little bit further as it started to hamper his training and found some old chronic changes in his meniscus,” Bull said.
“That was best dealt with via surgery which occurred on Friday.
“Rory’s bounced out of that really well and he was in the gym doing some good quality work today and we’ll see how that goes over the next four weeks.”
Anthony Miles will however re-join the main group this week after missing the last three weeks with a hamstring strain.
“Anthony has done really well off the back of his small hamstring strain a few weeks ago.”
“He’ll re-join the group this week which is really pleasing for Anthony after a few setbacks this pre-season.”
