It was the contested footy match that had SUNS fans on the edge of their seats, and despite going down by 17-points to Richmond the SUNS were strong in their pursuit of the ball.

Tom Lynch put on a clinic up forward, finishing with four majors and 10 marks after matching it with All Australian defender Alex Rance.

Peter Wright was also lively inside the arc, proving his ability to play a strong lead-up option in attack. Sam Day was another to feature in the forward 50, ensuring coach Rodney Eade is likely to keep his three pronged tall attack in games to come.

SUNS captain Gary Ablett collected 24 disposals, and a game high 12 tackles and 11 clearances to go along with his goal. Prolific ball-winners Matt Rosa, Dion Prestia and Michael Rischitelli weren’t far behind the skipper on the disposal leader board displaying terrific ball movement through the midfield like a well oiled machine.
