Tom Lynch, Seb Tape, Jackson Allen and Josh Hall spent time this week speaking with more than 570 excited Gold Coast students as part of the Gold Coast SUNS popular SHINE Program.
Presented by the GC SUNS, City of Gold Coast and AFL Queensland, the schools program promotes healthy eating, education, beach safety and the benefits of leading an active lifestyle through recreational sports like AFL.
Grade 4 students from St. Kevin’s Primary School, Caningeraba State School, Benowa State School, Kings Christian College and Pacific Coast Christian School received colouring books, a personal food diary and heaps of prizes and giveaways.
GC SUNS Community Programs Officer – Ryan Davey, told goldcoastfc.com.au the SHINE program continues to garner positive feedback from the city’s school communities.
“It is fantastic to see so many young Gold Coast students go through the program. We have seen close to 900 students participate in the SHINE Schools Program in Term 3 alone.”
“Even though we have professional footballers attending these schools, the main focus of this particular visit is not about playing AFL, but rather to highlight the importance of Healthy Eating and Active Lifestyles.
It is great to see the students learning such key messages from some of their sporting heroes.”
