Gold Coast has made three changes to the team to take on Essendon on Wednesday night, with Sam Flanders to make his AFL debut.
The 19-year-old has been a consistent performer in recent scratch matches and gets his chance after being taken with pick 11 in the 2019 AFL Draft.
Also coming into the team will be Brayden Fiorini and Josh Corbett, who will play his first AFL match of the season.
The pair have also been two of the most dominant SUNS in the scratch matches with Corbett amongst the best almost every week and Fiorini having a major impact since being omitted from the AFL side in Round 7.
Coming out of the team are forwards Alex Sexton and Nick Holman who have been omitted, and first-year player Jeremy Sharp who will miss with injury.
Sharp has been managing a hip complaint from his debut game last week but is expected to be available moving forward.
Representing Vic Country at the 2019 NAB AFL Under 18 Championships, Flanders averaged 22.5 disposals and six tackles to earn All Australian honours.
He becomes Gold Coast’s sixth debutant in 2020 after Sharp, Izak Rankine, Connor Budarick, Noah Anderson and Matt Rowell.
Gold Coast’s Round 11 match against the Bombers at Metricon Stadium gets underway at 7:10pm and will be broadcast on Fox Footy, 7mate (check your local guide), Kayo and the AFL Live Pass.
