Midfielder Aaron Hall’s excellent game on Saturday night was rewarded with eight votes in the AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year award for round seven.
Hall was prolific in the SUNS’ 25-point victory against Geelong as he gathered 32 disposals, 10 marks and eight tackles, along with one goal.
Gary Ablett now sits third on the competition leaderboard after polling six votes.
The former captain finished with 32 disposals and a goal against his old club, while his nine inside 50s provided the SUNS forwards with plenty of goal scoring opportunities.
Season 2017 has seen Ablett poll in five games, with a total of 32 votes to his name.
Captain Tom Lynch (five votes) was dominant in the forward line with three goals from eight shots.
If not for some inaccurate kicking, the key forward could have come away with an even bigger bag of goals.
Defender Jarrod Harbrow (five votes) and captain Steven May (three votes) marshalled the defence well and led the way in intercept possessions to help launch a number of counterattacks.
In May’s first game back after two weeks on the sidelines, he was able to negate Tom Hawkins but also gathered 26 possessions and seven rebound 50s.
David Swallow was a beast around the contest with 20 of his 23 possessions contested and was awarded two votes from the coaches.
